Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Hey! Sorry about not posting for awhile...I fell off the map for about a month and a half. It's true, beyond that there be dragons...however, a reputable source said it was National "It's O.K. If I Don't Blog Today" Month, so....

Long story short, near record snowfall last winter and a really wet spring, and the sump pump in my basement is spitting out hundreds of gallons of water a day, everyday, since last year. The basement has stayed dry, though. Thank you 1950s poured concrete foundation! I'm thinking of bottling the water and selling it as Natural Iowa Spring Water.

I spent a considerable amount of time digging water drainage channels in the yard, a couple of small retention ponds for the sump pump water, and moving mud and dirt from high points that didn't need to be so high to low points that needed to be higher. No Bobcat backhoe for this poor boy, just a shovel and a wheelbarrow. No time even for No Time For Blogging Today posts.

The good news is the aqueducts are just about finished, I'm watering my crops with the water I collect in the ponds, and next Wednesday the comix go back into overdrive. Watch out, you fuckers, I've got some time on my hands this summer to crank out some cartoons!

So, What did I miss? How many Islamofascist Donuts did John McCain and his Liberal Media Pals eat on The Straight Talk Express before Malkin rained on their parade?

Has anybody asked Scottie MaC how Jeff Gannon got into the White House press room?

George Bush, John McCain (watch out, you fucker!), and Charlie Cheswick walk into a bar...

Probably way more fun than Mary, but I highly doubt he's cleaner than Lucille.

Hardball and Dough-Nuts....the new sitcom for the Fall season. If the donuts don't get you, the ribs surely will.

Or coffee and Banana Oil trees.

McCain Chooses a Running Mate

Photobucket

Repubican Presidential Candidate John McCain, in a bold move, appointed Vice President Dick Cheney to head a search commitee designed to locate a suitable running mate for McCain. After several hours of deliberation inside a man-sized safe, Vice President Cheney emerged and declared himself to be "The Natural Choice".

"The Founders of our Great Country saw the wisdom of not limiting the power of the Fourth Branch of the government, and The 22nd Amendment to The Constitution, thankfully, does nothing to change that. Vice Presidenting is hard work. I stay razor sharp by 'practicing my chops'. My work won't allow my conscience to let me sleep, so if, or I should say when the phone rings at 3:00 am, I am the Natural Choice.I'm already awake." The Vice President announced before retiring to his bunker for a work out.

Meanwhile, President George W. Bush started a new tradition. In addition to throwing out the first pitch at The Nationals opening day game, the President attended the Texas Rangers opening day. A big fan of the batter's box, President Bush was allowed to hit the first pitch. "I've always been a fan of the Designated Hitler in the American League, and now I get to be one!" The President quipped after hitting a weak grounder to first base. Bat boy Joe Lieberman was quick to whisper in the Presidents ear "Hitter, you meant to say hitter."

For What It's Worth

From The Agonist and Info Wars, This is from 2 WEEKS AGO. Free Tibet demonstrators walking near the U.N., getting beat with clubs and threatened with death by cops in New York City.

There's a man with a gun over there tellin' me I got to beware.

Eventually, some Buddhist Monks will light themselves on fire on the sidewalks of New York. Do you think they will care whether or not they are being clubbed with batons or being tazed, bro?

Stop, Hey, What's That Sound?

The U.S. Military is intimately linked to religion at the highest levels of authority.

The hypocrisy of "Alleged Christians" in the Government is mind boggling.

Churches and religion are big business and they shouldn't be getting a free pass from the government. Tax The Churches!

Was it Lenny Bruce who said "Thou shalt not kill means just that!"? He must have been sniffing model airplane glue when he said that.

George Bush's and Dick Cheney's War In Iraq is Now Old Enough For Kindergarten

Celebrating 5 Long Years of the Iraquagmire. Hold on a second, let me google "Iraquagmire".....hmm hmm hmmmm Ah! Here it is

Here's a question that is never asked on TV, or on the front pages of newspapers. If the Authorization to Use Military Force was granted to Bush so that he could use it as leverage at the U.N. against Iraq to allow weapons inspectors back into Iraq, why did he invade Iraq after weapons inspectors were back in Iraq and actively looking for the "Weapons Of Mass Destruction"?

Why is there no mention of Hans Blix this week in the Mainstream Media? Here's a cartoon I did for The Daily Iowan in 2002 during the buildup to the war.

Yeah, I'm a day or so late for the BlogSwarm. It wouldn't be the first time I was a day late and a dollar short, but who's counting? Here's another cartoon from the Fall of 2002.

Once upon a time L'il George decided to do an experiment. He placed a frog in a pan of cold water and put the pan on the stove. He wanted to see if the frog would jump out of the water as it got warmer, or would the frog not notice as it was boiled alive. L'il George turned on the stove and watched. After half a minute, L'il George removed the frog from the cold water, took the frog outside and placed a firecracker in the frog's mouth. L'il George lit the firecracker and tossed the frog, imagining it was a hand grenade.

RoadHouse of Representatives

Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope that his illness doesn't turn into a media circus/distraction. The media are searching for the next big "distraction". Perhaps the murder of a UNC student will do the trick for them. Maybe another white college girl will go missing this Spring Break.Meanwhile, let's get Schmidt-faced!

Questions: Is the bombing of an Armed Forces Recruiting Office considered an act of Terrorism? Have we witnessed another Act of Terrorism on American Soil during the Bush Presidency? Does the determination by the Bush Administration concerning whether or not it is considered an act of terrorism have to do with the color of the suspect's skin?

People Power

I just returned last weekend after a month in The Philippines, and I'm still shaking the cobwebs from my brain. The purpose of the trip was to visit family and help celebrate Lola Lota's 8oth birthday. A good time was had by all! The vacation was also a blessed relief from "American Junk". Scrutinizing the minutiae of primary season, day after day, can wear you down.

Did I miss Bill O'Reilly's "War on Saint Valentines Day"? Did John McCain's mistress give birth to Rudy Giuliani's adopted black child, the great great grandson of Strom Thumond and his maid? Is Rush Limbaugh getting his painkillers direct from the poppy fields of Afghanistan? Has the corpse of Vincent Foster been re-animated by Karl Rove in Dick Cheney's secret underground puppy blood factory?

When you're stopped on the Marcos Highway at 2:00 AM by a military roadblock because Philippines President Gloria Arroyo is under threat of yet another impeachment attempt, and the tanks are rolling into Manila in anticipation of People Power resisting the powers that be trying to confine them to a George W Bush style "Free Speech Zone", things like "flagpins, and who ain't wearing 'em" are a million miles away.

I miss John Bolton....

The Last Poets or Gil Scot Heron?

I did this cartoon 3 years or so ago. Has it been that long since Richard Pryor died? The folks at Crooks and Liars have a list of great comedians, and Pryor is #2.

Some people don't like Black History Month, some do...I think that celebrating Black History Month is a good idea. The more opportunities to educate and learn, the better.

Photobucket

And for any Sensitivity Trolls out there, by "Whitey in The Fuel", I'm of course talking about Dick Cheney and his Energy Task Force, and not white people in general.

I can't seem to find the definitive answer to the question "Who wrote 'Whitey on the Moon', The Last Poets or Gil Scott Heron"?

There's been lots of talk about "race" in this presidential campaign. Here's a few more words on race for Black History Month...

Eldridge Cleaver
, author of the controversial 1960s book Soul On Ice, was at various times in his life a rapist, convict, Nation of Islam member, follower of Malcolm X, Minister of Information for the Black Panthers, the 1968 presidential candidate on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket, a fugitive living in Algeria and France, a born again Christian in Chuck Colson's church, a conservative Republican that endorsed Reagan for President, an unsuccessful Republican candidate trying to get the Republican nomination for one of the US Senate seats in California, a talk radio show host, a crackhead, and a baptized Mormon of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. That's some fuckin' resume!

Despite some of the crazy racist, sexist, and homophobic crap in Soul on Ice, there are some valid observations in the book concerning the history of racism in America. Read it with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney saw his dad march with Dr King in the civil rights movement. I saw Mitt Romney drop acid with Timothy Leary and Eldridge Cleaver in Algeria.

George Bush + Vladimir Putin

Photobucket

I haven't been posting much lately. The idea to put out a collection of my comix in print form (ya know, one of those book thingies) has been in the back of my mind for some time. I've been trying to gear up for it, but procrastinating a bit. These posts by Steve Lafler got me a little motivated. Then this Zippy The Pinhead by Bill Griffith put the icing on this little cupcake of an idea.

On my studio floor, I've laid out about 80 Grill Rats strips. I haven't counted the stand alone political toons, like this "Putin-Tang" one, but I think there are hundreds. There's enough material for 2 books, so that's what I'm going to do.A Grill Rats collection, and one for political toons

Hopefully, I'll have something available before the Vernal Equinox, but I want to redraw some panels and rescan everything, so it might be longer.
