I met the bag lady after I spent a few hours in the Lincoln jail. The cops pulled me over in my sister's car at about 3:00 am, the plates had expired, no registration. Somebody had stolen my Social Security number and enlisted in the army, then went AWOL from Fort Devens, so it took them a few hours to figure out I wasn't the guy they were looking for. They impounded the car, so I waited for a buddy to come pick me up and drop me off at the MBTA. I sat in the police station with the desk cop watching The Herculoids "Attack of The Faceless People", a cheesy Hanna Barbera cartoon, while I waited for my buddy.

I was in such rough shape,The bag lady offered to buy me a cup of coffee.
