Beyond Here There Be Dragoons

This was my first attempt at printing on the Vandercook press at Iowa City Press Co-Op, and I made 48 copies, 6 in. x 9 in., acid free paper. I first made the India ink and watercolor on handmade paper original in 2015 to mark the birth of the nuclear era, the 70th anniversary of the first explosion of a nuclear bomb. It seemed appropriate to print it now as we have a cartoon president trying to Twitter us into a war.

Garden of Smurfly Delights update

I'm done with the intaglio printing portion of the book. Next is the letterpress portion. The plates I used are vinyl floor tiles carved with a dart.

Garden of Smurfly Delights test prints

An intaglio test print from a couple of weeks ago done at Iowa City Press Co-op for a book project I'm working on -- the plates are engraved vinyl floor tiles from Restore and the paper is handmade in my basement. The floor tiles are dark grey, and it's hard to tell how much plate tone there is when you think you're done wiping the plate.

The narration that goes with the images will be letterpressed.

Irish American Blessing

The word "fact" went undigested during the paper making process, and found its home in this letterpress sheet! Made on the Showcard press at Iowa City Press Co-op.

Zugunruhe Blues

Silkscreen, pen and ink, watercolor, and rubber stamp.
